The story follows (played by Florinda Bolkan), the sexually repressed daughter of a prominent politician. Carol is haunted by vivid, psychedelic nightmares involving debauched sex and LSD use with her hedonistic neighbor, Julia Durer .
In one particularly graphic dream, Carol stabs Julia to death.
When Julia is found murdered in her apartment in the exact same manner as the dream, Carol becomes the prime suspect of a real criminal investigation.
