: After writing a draft, write out the main point of each paragraph in one sentence. This helps you see if the flow is logical and if every paragraph supports your main claim. Writing as an Advisor or Student

: Do not wait until the paper is finished to get feedback. Show drafts of individual sections to a mentor or writing center .

: Use a "funnel" shape, starting broad and narrowing down to a specific thesis statement. It should take up about 10% of your total word count.
