His ability, "Beast Beneath the Moonlight," is inspired by Nakajima's short story Sangetsuki (The Moon Over the Mountain), where a poet transforms into a tiger.

His ability, "No Longer Human," takes its name from Dazai's iconic semi-autobiographical novel about alienation and depression.

Dazai and his partner, Doppo Kunikida , are members of the Armed Detective Agency (ADA), a group of gifted individuals who handle cases beyond the scope of local police. They reveal they are hunting a "man-eating tiger" that has been terrorizing the area.

The episode title is derived from a Japanese proverb, and the title card features text from Ryūnosuke Akutagawa's Rashōmon and other classical works.
