To escape, B-12 and the Stray had to find the "Outsiders," a group of rebellious robots obsessed with seeing the "Outside," a place many Companions believed was merely a myth.

The Stray, now alone once more, stepped out of the heavy blast doors. It sniffed the fresh, open air of the surface, looked back at the glowing city one last time, and disappeared into the green foliage of a world reborn.
