The story begins with (Brenton Thwaites) trying to step out of Batman's shadow as a detective in Detroit. He soon encounters Rachel Roth (Raven), a young girl hunted by dark forces due to her demonic lineage. They are eventually joined by Kory Anders (Starfire), an alien with amnesia and solar-based powers, and Gar Logan (Beast Boy), a shape-shifting teenager.
